NFTA Kicks off Hispanic Heritage Month with Flag Raising
Buffalo, NY — The Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority proudly celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month with a vibrant flag-raising ceremony and a day of cultural festivities at the Metropolitan Transportation Center. The event highlighted the NFTA’s ongoing commitment to "unity in our community" and honored the rich traditions, culture, and contributions of the Hispanic community in Western New York.
The celebration kicked off with the ceremonial raising of the Puerto Rican flag, symbolizing pride and solidarity with the Hispanic community. The festivities continued with a flavorful Hispanic food tasting from local restaurant Mexico City , offering attendees a chance to enjoy authentic cuisine and a taste of the culture!
Community speakers from the Hispanic Heritage Council of Western New York and Upstate New York Black and Latino Pride shared powerful words about the significance of Hispanic Heritage Month, emphasizing the importance of cultural understanding and the many contributions made by the Hispanic community.
A lively dance and music performance by Amor and Heritage energized the crowd, showcasing traditional Hispanic dances and rhythms that filled the space with joy and celebration.
The NFTA was proud to bring together the community to celebrate Hispanic culture in a meaningful way, promoting unity, diversity, and inclusion!
