RUN THE RUNWAY TAKES OFF AT NIAGARA FALLS INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
Hundreds lace up to hit the tarmac
The Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority (NFTA) welcomed runners back to the Niagara Falls International Airport for another year of racing for a cause with the Runway 5K. The thrilling event provided participants with the rare opportunity to race directly on the airport’s main runway, offering an unforgettable experience.
On Saturday, August 24, people from all around Western New York came to walk, jog, and run on the 10,825-foot-long runway and adjoining taxiways. The family-friendly event included a half mile run for children, allowing participants of all ages to enjoy the unique experience. A record 250+ individuals participated in the NFTA's unique 5K and all winners received custom awards.
The event was sponsored by Resurgence Brewery, Imperial Pizza, and WellNow Urgent Care and included a post-race party.
All fundraising proceeds will benefit the Matt Urban Center to support children and families in need of housing, food, medicine, and education.
